Capturing and documenting the current state of a unit is the core of the Record360 experience. We have focused on developing an in-app camera that captures images that are clear and crisp for our customers to trust their fleet is protected so their customers can be held accountable in the event damage is caused and disputed. With that, we have found a balance with our aspect ratio that conforms to the mobile operating systems and also displays as much as the image as possible once uploaded to the dashboard.

The 16:9 aspect ratio is a widescreen format known for it's cinematic appeal and is widely used in video production. However, any image taken on a handheld consumer device has a default ratio of 4:3 due to the circular lens and can be displayed in a 16:9 format. This appears to be a wider view, but the ratio still fits within the 4:3 frame. The way these devices have typically been designed have created more of a difference in the width and height media is captured and is more visually appealing to record in the full frame of the device. What Record360 has done is maintain the wider ratio and add the remaining edges of the images upon upload to be viewed in the dashboard.

The decision to display media in a 4:3 aspect ratio on the dashboard is rooted in the desire to maximize visibility and make the most of available image real estate. By incorporating the 16:9 aspect ratio within the 4:3 frame, Record360 allows users to see more of the image, creating a "zoomed-out" look that showcases a broader perspective of the captured moment.
